July 2010 Release Notes
This release expands a number of core ClickEquations features and adds a powerful new ability to leverage search queries to improve your results.
The new features in this release are:
- Expanded Bulk Editing Capabilities
- New Campaign & Ad Group Defaults
- New Keyword Zoom in Manager
- New Bid-To-ROI Algorithm
- New Minimum Bid Option
- Improved Geographic Reporting
Expanded Bulk Editing Capabilities
The bulk import/export capabilities in ClickEquations have been completely rewritten and expanded. The new bulk engine is more powerful, more flexible, and more manageable.
New features include the ability to create new campaigns and ad groups during bulk imports, delete keywords or target URLs, and move keywords, negative keywords or text ads from one campaign or ad group to another.
New Bulk Queue Manager
The management and processing of bulk files is controlled in the new Bulk Manager area within ClickEquations. Here you can view the history and status of all bulk import files, review warning or error messages, and either upload new bulk files for processing or download old bulk files for review.
New Campaign & Ad Group Option Defaults
To facilitate the creation of new campaigns and ad groups via bulk, the new Campaign and Ad Group defaults page sets initial values for many required and important options.
You’re able to set the initial budgets, target networks, bids, and other key options which will be assigned to any new campaigns or ad groups created via bulk imports.
Of course, once created you can customize the options for any of the campaigns or ad groups.
New Keyword Zoom
This innovative new feature allows you to see inside the performance of any keyword in your account, and use this data to immediately make changes that will avoid future wasteful spending and improve the targeting of your advertising.
All you have to do is double-click any keyword to see the search queries that drove expenses and revenues. You’ll be able to instantly promote profitable queries into new keywords or avoid future wasteful spending by creating new negative keywords.
Plus, you can see how each text ad is performing against each search query, and add or edit text ad copy to maximize relevance and results. It’s the most precise keyword management tool in the history of paid search marketing.

New Bid-To-ROI Algorithm
The new Bid-To-ROI algorithm replaces our Bid-To-Margin algorithm, offering you more control over the process of bidding based on net margin after COGS.
You can create any number of bid rules using different ROI targets, plus custom attribution settings, lookback periods, and clustering options.
New Minimum Bid Option
This new option is available for any bid rule based on our Bid-To-ROI, Bid-To-ROAS, or Bid-To-CPA algorithms. It allows you to define the minimum bid that may be set for a keyword.
The Minimum Bid sets a floor that the bid algorithm will respect, so you can make sure that certain keywords – when their performance alone may drive the bid low or to zero – will instead keep at least a specified minimum bid.
Enhanced Geographic Reporting
The data source used to power our post-click geographic reporting, as shown on the Geography tab in the Report section and in ClickEquations Analyst, has been updated to be more complete and accurate.
Both US and International clients will enjoy better geo reporting.
