Dr. Kartik Hosanagar is Assistant Professor of Operations and Information Management at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Hosanagar’s research areas include search engines and product management in IT (including eCommerce), among others. His current projects related to search marketing include the Design of Search Engines and Ad Ranking Policies as well proprietary research to support ClickEquations’ bid algorithms.

Before Wharton, Dr. Hosanagar worked with Yahoo! and Google. He has consulted for Honeywell Software, Novell, and NTT DoCoMo. Dr. Hosanagar is a recipient of the William Cooper Doctoral Dissertation award. - David Szetela
- Online advertising expert David Szetela is Owner and CEO of Clix Marketing, one of the few agencies that specializes exclusively in pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, creating and optimizing clients’ Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter advertising campaigns. Clix is also one of the few agencies paid according to performance — as a percentage of profit or a commission per sales lead generated.

He is active in the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) and is one of the authors of SEMPO’s advanced search advertising course. Marc Chaikin started his career in trading as a stockbroker in 1966. By 1969 as a new bear market was in full swing, he began doing research into technical analysis as an alternative to fundamental research. He started using standard trading software in 1980 to build his own indicators, the now famous Chaikin Oscillator, Chaikin Accumulation/Distribution indicator, and the Chaikin Persistence of Money Flow indicator.

Marc’s founded Bomar Securities, where he built a technical analysis workstation for portfolio managers and traders. He sold the company in 1992 to the Instinet subsidiary of Reuters, but continued building equity related analytics products for Instinet and Reuters. Marc left Instinet in 1998 to focus on his current company, Chaikin Capital, LLC.

Josh is Managing Director of First Round Capital. He has been an active leader in the Internet industry since its commercialization, co-founding Infonautics Corporation, an Internet information company that went public, in 1992 while he was still in college. Josh then founded Half.com which was acquired by eBay and he stayed with eBay for three years. He also co-found TurnTide and has served as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and advisor to Comcast Interactive Capital.

He is an inventor on five U.S. Patents, was awarded Ernst and Young’s prestigious “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for the Greater Philadelphia region, and has also been recognized as one of the “10 Most Influential People in Philadelphia Technology” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, one of the “76 Smartest Philadelphians” by Philadelphia Magazine and a Philadelphia Business Journal “40 under 40.” Josh earned a BS cum laude in Entrepreneurial Management and Marketing from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. - Doug Alexander
Doug is Managing Director at Internet Capital Group, where he has overseen investments in partner companies including Blackboard (Nasdaq: BBBB), Verticalnet (Nasdaq:VERT), eMerge Interactive (Nasdaq: EMRG), Arbinet-thexchange (Nasdaq: ARBX), WiseWire (acquired by Lycos), LinkShare (acquired by Rakuten), CreditTrade (merged with Creditex Group), StarCite, Mobility Technologies, and Investor Force.

Doug currently serves on the boards of Channel Intelligence, Creditex, Investor Force, StarCite, ICG Commerce and WhiteFence. Prior to joining ICG, Doug co-founded Reality Online, which was acquired by Reuters, and was a partner with Strategic Management Group, a three-time Inc. 500 company. Doug graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Engineering and Wharton Business schools with both a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Economics. - Saul Richter
Saul Richter is a Founder and Managing Partner of Emerald Stage2 Ventures. Since founding Stage2 in 2006, Mr. Richter has led investments in Evident Software, Maverick Network Solutions and ClickEquations, and he currently sits on the Board of all three companies.

Prior to Stage2, Mr. Richter was a Principal at Himalaya Capital, which he joined in early 2002. While at Himalaya, Mr. Richter was active on the boards of a number of companies including Concerro (fka BidShift) and Wasabi Systems.

Prior to Himalaya, Mr. Richter worked at Lucent Technologies in the New Ventures Group. In addition to Lucent, Mr. Richter has prior venture capital experience working at Softbank Ventures (now Mobius Venture Capital), Jerusalem Global Ventures and Flatiron Partners. Mr. Richter was also the founder of Zapper Technologies’ US operations.

Dean joined Novitas Capital in 1998, and is focused on early stage venture capital investments. He has over 19 years of experience working for and with both large and small companies. Dean is currently on the Board of Directors of Agile Therapeutics, Cellumen, ClickEquations, ImageTree and VIPdesk, and is an observer to the Board of Directors of GelMed Sciences, and Logical Therapeutics. He has led investments in and served as director or observer of Renal Solutions (acquired by Fresenius (NYSE: FMS)), Incurrent Solutions (acquired by Online Resources (NASDAQ: ORCC)) and LearnNow, Inc. (acquired by Edison Schools).

Previously, Dean served as the Chief Financial Officer of Adaptiv Learning Systems, which provides resiliency training to corporations, educational institutions and a variety of other clients. Dean began his career at the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, where he held a variety of management positions.

Dean is Chairman of Wharton Private Equity Partners and serves on adjunct faculty at the Wharton School in the Department of Management. He also serves as a guest lecturer at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He is Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Capital Alliance. Dean has served as a Commercial Reviewer for the National Science Foundation SBIR/STTR Biotechnology Grant Program.

Dean holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Psychology from Franklin and Marshall College, a Postgraduate Course in Clinical Pharmacology, Drug Development, and Regulation at the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development and he graduated with distinction from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with an MBA in Private Equity.
